Sorry but I wanna HELP!
I am NOT telling anyone to quit smoking, as it is none of my business what people do with their own bodies, and I don't judge people for anything like that anyway. I am an ex-smoker, so I have no right to judge. I can, instead, empathize and relate. So this is for anyone who really does WANT to quit.

I'm sorry if anyone gets annoyed that I am helping this thread continue (a few seemed upset that it is even here in the first place), but I know that some of you are smokers and maybe, if I can help JUST ONE person.
I smoked for 15 years, a pack a day, sometimes more. I finally tried NOSMOQ, and I gotta tell ya: It's GREAT! Not everyone has had this experience, as one person mentioned, they had a BAD experience with the side-effects. But everyone's body chemistry is different, and I had NO side-effects whatsoever! And, of course, it's not a magic pill that will take away your desire to smoke. You will still WANT a cigarette, for awhile, out of HABIT, but the genious is: NO NICOTINE FITS!!! I have NO willpower, and it helped me quit! You take 1 pill twice a day for 2 weeks, then quit smoking, cold turkey. Just like that! You continue the NOSMOQ for only a week or more, and if you do so, you will have no withdrawals or weird side-effects from quitting the NOSMOQ, either! I have been a non-smoker now since March 28, 2000... for just 7 days NOSMOQ is an antidepressant, for those who don't know, about it if you are a smoker who wants to quit. It's gaining popularity for quitting smoking, and for one very good reason: IT WORKS!

Sorry if I sound like a commercial (I just realized it), but this is really my own personal experience, and like I said, if it helps JUST ONE person quit smoking, then it is worth it to me to take any harassment I may receive for posting it! My father died 2 1/2 years ago of a massive heart attack, and during the autopsy, they discovered that his entire body was filled with cancer (he never went to a dr.). He was a chain smoker for MANY years, and ended up dead at the age of 55. So there is nothing anyone can say or do to me to make me regret posting this, especially if this knowledge reaches someone who needs it!
Quitting is Hard but pls don’t give UP!

Thanks for reading...

Rosyln,
Hi, my name is Lori. I do not have COPD and i have never smoked. I am on this site because my dad passed away of COPD/Emphysema dec. 2003. I was determined after dad passed on that i would learn all i could about lung disease and about Freedom From Smoking. I do not put anyone down for smoking. I feel you cannot make someone quit. They have to want to and then go for help. I met Jane through her site. She interviewed me about my dad and my story plus others are posted. Like yourself i want to help anyone that I can first in learning to cope with their lung disease and also to try to help the smokers quit.
I have alot of material that may help others and I have taken the Freedom From Smoking course.
I am with you in trying to help others.
Lori

I have to weigh in here on this subject. First, Lori, thank-you for all your posts. I went to your website and loved your dad's sunset. I can't wait til you're up and running. I have also read your story and found it emotional and compassionate. You truly help people on this site. I read here every day.

Now for Roselynn: You are only a commercial for your nosmoq site. I know because last year when you posted, I was silly enough to follow your site and actually spend $200 (which I couldn't really afford) on your product. It was not pills as you say, but cigarettes made from a RUBBER TREE...absolutely disgusting. I can't even imagine how smoke from a rubber tree could be safer than smoke from a cigarette but that's beside the point. Your posts here are self serving for the company you work for. When I privately emailed you, your response was in such broken English that I am sure you have someone else write your posts here. You add nothing to the general topic of COPD or to the people who post here regularly.

I for one, do not appreciate your blatent self promotion on this site.

Just my 2 cents. And I quit on my own.

Eileen
P.S. Jane, I'm sorry but I couldn't stop myself

Oh MY Gosh!!!! I am sitting here and laughing, YoU GO Eillen, Nothing makes you QUIT smoking intill YOU want to QUIT... I firmly believe that. I tried pills, hipnossis, etc... One day woke up with a really bad cold and said that's it I QUIT!!! That was over 5 years ago and I still get urges to have one but I don't, thank goodness not very often anymore either.
I would love to hear stories and of course I considered most of you friends and companinons of this horrible copd. Pleas eif we come on line let's all try to be honest with ourselves and others. I for one NEED the truth, not lies that will try to make me feel better.

LOL Melisa! She posted about the same thing last fall...and again just today. It's only been a few months for me and I struggle with staying quit but I'm so proud to call myself a non-smoker :o I tried it all too and it just came down to like you said - you have to be ready.

I, too, consider everyone here friends and co-survivors. We each struggle with our individual problems but knowing there is a place like this to come to and get support and help is just AMAZING to me. I am so glad I found this site!!
And I am happy that I don't feel alone in this journey.

Eileen

Hi all,

Whew! Well, actually the really, really good news is that those who visit our site are now acquainted with how to guard against being scammed and quacked! See the latest information on our basics page with the Q & A with Dr. Sandhaus (Alternative Treatments for Pulmonary Disease) and the Quackwatch link.
Thanks to Eileen who gave me the heads up about the above "quit smoking" offer, after which BBLW promptly removed the misleading party from our forum. The offending post was put up on January 20, 2005. Sometimes with all the time zones involved posts come up that appear to be post-dated. I'm sure Lori and others saw it as being a current post.

Anyway, congratulations to all of you who have quit, and our encouragement goes out to those of you who are in the process. Hang in there, you can do it!
We have some neat plans for our quit smoking forum! To those of you who quit, how did you do it? To those of you who are still struggling, let your BBLW community help you with support.

Here we go!
Jane.

Eileen,
Thank you so much for the beautiful compliment you gave to me. That sunset picture is so special to me.
I would never be this far in my volunteer work with lung disease if it hadnt been for Jane. I found her site by accident, e-mailed her.....and the rest is history!!!!!!
Melisa,
I loved your posts, which followed Eileen's. :P When i posted to Roslyn, i did not remember Janes warning about the "quit smoking" offer. But, i sure do now!!!
I just cant believe people can be that way. I am a very trusting person.
Well, I am still here for anyone that "is trying" to quit smoking. i will help in anyway that i can.
My boyfriend smokes. He knows that i would like him to quit....and i know that he has to be ready to quit. I cannot make him do it. But i will be there for him when he is ready. I have to say, he is very considerate with smoking around me, and is very supportive with the lung disease work that i am doing. His name is Chuck and he is a wonderful, gorgeous man..... hey, i'm not prejudice now am i..?? ha ha!! :o
well, i'll talk to all of you again soon,
love ya,
lori
