Dee, thank you for posting the Caregivers Guide. I couldn't agree more, as those of us who serve as caregivers, or have been caregivers in the past quickly learn, THE CAREGIVER MUST TAKE CARE OF THE CAREGIVER. If the caregiver does not take care of the caregiver then who will take care of the sick loved one if the caregiver is not able? I have a previous post under CAREGIVERS WINDOW, "NO HELP, WHO IS TO BLAME" MAY 6, 2011 which directly addresses the problem of others helping the caregiver and why the caregiver finds it difficult to find assistance. I encourage caregivers to look up this post. I have worked with other caregivers for over 3 years now and I find the subject of caring for the caregiver and obtaining assistance a very common ground. As my post "NO HELP, WHO IS TO BLAME" describes I believe a large portion of the blame for not having assistance is the fault of we caregivers. How many times does the caregiver hear "let me know if I can help in anyway"? Hope the May 6, 2011 post "NO HELP-WHO IS TO BLAME" is helpful to all caregivers.
