Okay month of June, that's enough!!! It's not funny, floods, fires, unbearable heat
. June gets one more day and it's "outta here". Looking at my front porch in the shade it's 100* already and rising, not to mention the heat index. I'm rethinking my weekend plans right now. Please be careful if you have this awful weather in your area. But have a great weekend to the extent that you can.

Darrell,
I know how you feel but I always worry that what comes next may be worse than what came before! Particularly during Hurricaine season.
Seems really strange to be here in Florida with 92-93 degree temps and know we are one of the "cool" spots in the country right now!
Have a great weekend if possible in spite of the heat!

There are really only two requirements when it comes to exercise.
One is that you do it. The other is that you continue to do it.

I'm with you, Darrell. It seems to be getting worse instead of better.
Here, maybe this will make you feel better...

Darrell,
Like I said yesterday, in bad weather I often worry about what comes next. Hope all are well after the devastating thunderstorms last night through the midwest and mid Adtlantic areas and particularly your area.
Thinking about those impacted.

June definitely went out with a flourish. We just are getting our power back as of Sunday a.m. after it went out Friday evening. Our phones are still messed up but the cell phones work and I have internet access. Otherwise no damage to our home, just some small tree branches but a lot of my neighborhood had bigger issues with their trees. We spent yesterday and last night with the daughter and her family. It was very nice but the dogs were more than a little happy to get home just a few minutes ago. My POC worked well at there house and I had no health complications. I'm grateful to have an alternate plan and now I have tested it and it worked well.

It's good to hear from you Darrell, it's been very quite here at BBLW this weekend and I know a lot
of our daily posters live in the area that had some of the worse storms. Our thoughts have been with
all of you this weekend.

Glad to hear your plan worked, Darrell and that you are safe and sound back at home.
Hope all of our readers out there are faring well also. It is always a challenge in spooky weather like this.
Prayers for all who are challenged with having to relocate until the storm damages are repaired and that there are safe havens to go to.

Darrell,
Very happy that you all are OK and that things are returning to normal. Glad the backup plan was in place and worked as well!

Good Morning Friends,
I was going to open a new Thread for July but there's some conversations still going on on this one so
thought I had better hang on. But don't wait for me, if anyone wants to open one tomorrow, please do.
It's very hot here this week with temps in the high 90's +. When I see 102* in the forecast for more then
one day, I start rearranging my schedule so that I'm back home before the hottest part of the day sets in.
We also need Rain. It seems like theres no in between for anyone this summer. You get way to much rain
and storms or you get nothing for weeks at a time. I know the farmers are all concerned right now because
of the drought conditions.
We were out out almost 4 hours on Saturday morning buying groceries and when we got home we had
to unload everything and put it away. Then we had to haul water for all the outdoor plants. By the time
we finished, I know I got in enough exercise for the day or at least all I could handle.
We had the family over for Sunday Dinner and I made a BIG pot of Fresh Green Beans and New Potatos,
a big pan of corn bread, a green salad and I rosted three Chickens. The ate just about everything.
I was up early today and dropped Dew off at work this morning. I came home long enough to shower and
get dressed and was back out and on the road. I had to drive over to Peoria to have blood drawn at the VA
for my cholesterol. They upped my Statin Dose not long ago so had to have a recheck and also needed a
liver function test done. I tend to have problems with my liver function when I'm on Statins but so far, this
new one is working just fine with no side effects. For me, that's a good thing.
Our little garden is getting overrun with weeds. They seem to grow overnight. We're hoping for a break in the
heat next weekend so we can get out there and try to get it cleaned up.
I'll be going to PR tomorrow so will check back in later this week.
Take care,
Tim

Tim,
You got my mouth watering with that Sunday Dinner. Just about my favorite meal right down the line including every item. Be glad I wasn't there or someone would have been left wanting as I would have lost control. Hope all of your tests are great. Stay inside and cool if possible!

It must have been the weekend to have chicken, Tim. We put one on the rotisserie for Saturday night. We had fresh beets with the greens, a garden salad, and corn on the cob. We didn't have any company, just the two of us, but it's alright because now we have some pretty good leftovers.
Good luck with your test results. Goods news is always a welcomed relief.
We had no idea of the severe weather below us until last night. I thought of you right away, Darrell. The pictures I've seem look disastrous, and I'm glad you're alright and had a safe haven you could go to. There sure has been some awful weather this year. Let's hope that the hurricane season is a meek one and everyone stays safe.
Peg, you sure have been the busy one. You must be feeling pretty good about how much you have managed to accomplish. Sometimes we end up doing a lot better than we thought we ever could. It might take a little longer, but it still feels so good when things get done.
Not much going on around here. The weather has been pretty decent in our area lately, but I say that with my fingers crossed.
Two of the grandchildren are in soccer leagues this summer, so when it isn't too hot and humid, we try to get to their games.
I've been doing battle with a chipmunk who keeps emptying the bird feeder. This has been ongoing on for years, but my husband thinks he has come up with a new idea that might work. I hope so, but I know the wild turkeys will be disappointed because they usually clean up the lawn after the chipmunk dumps the feeder. This chipmunk must have enough food in storage to feed every chipmunk in the entire state. Sooner or later, we will get the best of him.
Mom has been doing very well at BINGO. She wins almost every time she plays, and it is usually a sizable amount. I haven't been going with her this year. I think if I went now and she stopped wining, she might think I am a jinx, so I think it's best that I stay home for now. She baked a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, (my favorite), the other day, and she brought us some to have. I made a blueberry coffeecake this weekend, so I sent her home with some of that this morning. This seems to be working out well for BOTH of us.
We are leaving tomorrow night for a few extra days off in the mountains. Our daughter and her girls will be joining us for a night, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mom came up for a night or two as well. Good food, good times, and lots of happy memories to be made. Hmmm....I wonder if Mom will bring up a
cake.
We don't go to the fireworks display any more. We usually stay home on the 4th and watch 'A Capital Fourth' on PBS. It's usually a pretty good show, and there are plenty of fireworks at the end.
Happy 4th of July birthday, Bev. They really do your birthday in a BIG way.
Take care everyone and have a happy and safe Fourth of July.

I just wanted to drop in and say Hello, I'm not feeling well today and don't really have the energy
or presence of mind to write a long post.
I got the results from my Cholesterol Check and I've made some great improvements in my numbers.
My Total Cholesterol was down to 176. That's the lowest it's ever been, even when I was in my mid 20's.
The Dr I see for this stopped one of my meds and is asking for approval from the VA Med Board to switch
me from Pravastatin to Crestor. It's suppose to be stronger then the Pravastatin and since it has been
approved in the past, she doesn't see any problem but will let me know as soon as she finds out. At least
I'm showing improvement.
I'll check back in tomorrow or maybe the next day as soon as I start feeling a little better.
