I second what Ken just said. It's wonderful to hear you feeling better again, Tim! I can hear it in your "voice," even though you're writing words on the screen.

Now, as for exercise.....#1, you all inspire me, and #2, you put me to shame! :o I'm going to get out there and take a walk today. Gotta do it. Thanks for motivating me!

Tomorrow I head for San Antonio to give a talk to a group of RT's and then on to Austin as the guest of the Better Breathers' Club there. Have a good rest of the week, and I'll "see" you soon.

Jane. :P

Tim - Wow! That's such an excellent report from you. Best we have heard in a long time, and I am so happy for you. Keep it up and inspire me to do the same. ;)

Darrell...that was terrific for your whole family to pull the birthday surprise together for your wife. Hope she enjoyed this one! You sound pretty well and fit these days, too.

Ken...knowing you, your time will get made up and your fitness level won't miss a beat. Wish I had your dedication to it..Lord knows I need it.

Where is Claire these days (or am I just missing her?) You guys really inspire me to keep at it. I am doing better than I was but still not enough. I'll keep working on it. There was not one of the trial tests in the Presidents Fitness Club original test that I could do, so that is why I have not been on there. I just have to log my own time and efforts here.

OK - went to get my hair colored already, now back home to check the site and do my neb treatment, then off to PR via the oxygen company to pick up a new pair of support hose, then back home for another treatment, dinner and then off to my son's aspy group meeting tonight. Whew! I will be glad to get back home tonight. Too much stuff in one day for this ole gal.

Have a great breathing day everyone.

Peg

ps Have a good trip, Jane. Shine for them all!

Thanks for all the well wishes, I am feeling better. My Pulmo continues to take very good care of me.
If I can just get some of these other health issues under control, I'll be one happy fellow.

Another Sunny Day here in Central IL. Temps are in the upper 60's but the wind is still gusting, sometimes
over 40 mph. Makes walking out doors a real workout. I prefer the T/M over all that wind blowing in my
face.

I did my theraband workout and warm-up exercises and 30 min 's on the T/M today. I have to admit,
I had to really do one of those mental pushes today to get myself up and on the T/M but now that it's
done, I feel better not only physically but mentally as well.

I hope you all have a good day,

Tim

Hi Everybody:

Peg, I am still here but I have been very dull and have nothing good to report. The darn foot is still a bother and so it is on to an MRI to see if the fracture healed correctly - if not it will be back in an even bigger boot for a longer amount of time - UGH! As you can tell I am really crabby not being able to walk....have had to use the machines downstairs for exercise....not a favorite.

It sounds like everyone here is doing well - always good news. The weather here was 66 today (a record) and my maple trees have buds on them (probably not good) as we can still get really cold weather and plenty of snow. My treat for today was to sit out in the yard for awhile with a latte and bask in some sun!

Take care, all, and have a good evening.

Claire

I was back at the gym today but it was an uphill battle, I think the allergies are taking a toll. We were up to the high 60s today and the 70s for tomorrow, it's beautiful but it is a difficult time of year for my allergies. It's interesting that I could go the first 50 plus years of my life without a single indication of allergies but these days it's hard to find a day without pollen/mold/cold or some other asthma trigger.

Claire that's tough news about your foot not mending as quickly as expected. Hang in there, I'd tell you to be patient but that's an area I have little experience in.

Peg I keep waiting for you to post some points on the fitness challenge. I know you're doing active things that would accumulate points. Give it a try.

Have a great day.

Darrell

Claire, hate hearing that the foot remains a problem, I hope they can fiqure it out and get you on the mend soon. Darrell sorry for all of the allergy impacts, our pollen counts down here have been very high now for a month. I don't have a lot of trouble with it but do feel it some. Seems like all activities have been a little more difficult lately but what you going to do, I slog through them, sure not giving up. Missed a day of exercise today with an early morning breakfast meeting an hour from here and will miss the occasional day the next several weeks due to scheduled activities but still do five to six days a week. Only reason I try so hard not to miss a day is I don't want missed days to become too easy or a habit.

Buried in work right now. Will catch up soon.

Take care all,

Ken
There are really only two requirements when it comes to exercise.
One is that you do it. The other is that you continue to do it.

I agree Claire, to bad your having so much trouble with your foot. I know you had hoped to
be done with the boot and have your foot all better by now. Give it a little longer and take care of yourself.
This will all be a thing of the past before you know it.

The weather can't make up it's mind what it wants to do today. We're finally getting a little sun this afternoon
but this morning was rainy and that damp cold cut right through me when I was outside.

I went to PR this morning and did better today. I added more speed to the T/M and walked for 30 min's.
I'm back to all my normal times on all the other eq. That stationary bike gave me the most trouble this
time. By The time a got around to it, I was just plum wore out. I made the goal I set two weeks ago.
I wanted to be back to my normal routine by the end of this week and I made. We'll have to wait for
next week to see what comes now.

I went to the Chiropractors Office after Pulmo Rehab. My Neck and shoulder's been bothering me for awhile.
I think it's from sitting at the computer, all hunched over and also from sleeping on my right side all the time.
He gave me an adjustment and it feels better now. I'll probably have to go back a couple of times but I think
he'll be able to fix it.

The weeks almost over. I have one more day of home exercise to do this week and then Saturday is our big grocery day.
I always get in plenty of exercise that day. We're also looking forward to having the kids over for dinner on Sunday.
A busy Weekend.

I hope your all having a good day and looking forward to the weekend.

Take care,

Tim

Hi Everybody:

Thanks for all the support and words of encouragement re "the foot". It really means of lot to hear that you all understand and wish me well.....thanks again. I'll bet you all are as tired of hearing about it as I am of talking about it!

Darrell, I am with you on the allergy business - never had any problems with airborne allergies until I was about 57 years old - my Mom was about the same age when it started to bother her - now I look at budding trees with a suspicious eye! Watery eyes, full nose and sinus, sneezing and tight chest. It is a mystery to me how my body now rebels at things blowing in the wind.

Tim, it sounds like you are working hard and reaping some benefits - so glad the the pred taper is going well for you.

Peg, good to hear that all is well with you also. Have fun kissing on that new baby!

Ken, always nice to read your posts.

Temp dropped 25 degrees today and we are at 41 with blowing wind so it feels like 30 - what a switch! It is down into the basement for me this afternoon for some work on the elliptical and then a treat (cherry oatmeal cookies with a cup of tea). Take care everybody.

Claire

There's weather pattren going here, we are in the 70s today and will drop by 25* tomorrow. I have figured out an early warning system for the allergies. My dog has been having watering eyes lately and we thought he was infected, today we gave him a benedryl antihistimine pill and he was fine. It doesn't stop my allergies but it's interesting.

I had a much more productive day at the gym today with full cardio and weights. Plus I've been able to clear my chest of a lot of junk. Now I'll feel much better for my pulmo followup tomorrow, I think the guy must wonder how I feel good when I see him and 24 hours later I have problems. Last time I saw him I was doing really well and the next day I called him about the flu feeling about as bad as it gets. It's happened that way several times, not flu, but with breathing issues. Also I seem to visit him on Fridays and frequently start having problems on weekends.

Tim it sounds like you're doing really well with your exercise routine considering the prednisone taper and your neck/shoulder problem are probably feeling the taper too. Of course sitting at the computer may be the trigger.

Ken keep up the good work, I find that after a day off from the gym I usually come back refreshed and stronger, after 2-3 days off is another story.

Good breathing!

Darrell
