Good Evening BBLW Community,

Friday mornings are often hectic at the Turner house and I wanted to start the weekend off on a positive note.

I know that education is crucial to understanding and living with COPD. I heard an amazing presentation to start a COPD resource clinician program for hospital staff. Can you imagine clincans that all speak the SAME language, WOW. I'm in...... let me know what I should suggest as must include topics.
This is for acute care facilities but the potential to expand into the community is not impossible. This is the brainstorming phase and I would love your input what is important to YOU!

Thanks and Have a Beautiful Weekend :)

Dawn

Hi Dawn,

I'd love to hear more about the presentation - either here, if you feel it would be of benefit to our readers who have chronic lung disease, or in a private message to me if it's more for just RT's.

To the rest of you......this is your chance! For those of you who have been patients in the hospital for breathing problems, think back and tell Dawn.....what is it you would have liked your RT to talk with you about, inform you, educate you?

The new health care initiatives are giving us an opportunity to make changes to help inform, educate and engage people with COPD (and this will eventually spill into other chronic lung diseases, I'm sure) to stay as stable and well as possible, with the best quality of life possible. Let's hear from you!

Thanks, Dawn, and thanks to all of you!

Jane. :P

Jane,
That was a perfect summary. We are developing course content and need your input. YOU will make a difference in the model of care that we deliver. The proposed program is for staff to attend and then become resource clinicans for all staff. Topics include alpha one (which many people are unaware of), portable oxygen devices and my favorite tobacco cessation verbage, just to name a few.

Send a reply anytime if you can think of anything :D
Thanks!
Dawn
