Today (Sat) was supposed to be cold and windy here in Central Florida but turned out to be a pretty nice day with some breeze. We left at 8 am on the Harley and rode with friends for about an hour to a classic car auction, car show, parts sale and dirt track races at a county fair location. We spent the day, returning home about 5 PM. Although I broke my 20 day string of exercise days we did walk a few miles aroung the fairgrounds while looking at some great 50's, 60's, and 70's cars like the ones we grew up with. I don't suppose breathing in the dust from the dirt track racing was particularly good for me but it was a good day.
Sunday morning WILL find me in the gym working off the bratwurst I had for lunch and the several adult beverages I consumed.
I hope each of your Saturdays were as good as mine.
Good breathing,
Ken

There are really only two requirements when it comes to exercise.
One is that you do it. The other is that you continue to do it.

Had a lot of Sun today but it was very windy and cold. Not a day to spend much time out in the open but nice enough to make you
want to get out of the house.
Dew and I had our payday shopping to do so after a lite breakfast we took off and spent a little over three hours out today.
I got in more walking today then I have in a while and I did OK until the very end when I started getting very SOB and
had to use my rescue inhaler. I felt better afterwards so finished up the shopping and then headed home.
We have the Family coming over for Dinner tomorrow. It's the first time we will all be together since Christmas.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
I hope things are going OK for everyone else...

Well, the forecast Sat weather showed up today, Sunday, blustery, cool, spitting rain and overcast.
Made it to the Gym this morning at opening at 8:00 AM with the sparse Sunday morning group and got in a good hour and 10 minutes of aerobics then out for bfast nearby before returning home.
Weather now is "stay inside and relax" weather so a beef roast is in the crock pot, will add carrots, new potatoes etc later. Good day to work on my latest cross stitch project.
Wife wants us to go visit the Canaveral National Seashore and Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge next Sunday to so some birding and watch for Manatees so that will give us something to look forward to for next weekend.
Otherwise it should be a normal and routine week, weather is expected to be poor with rain the 1st half of the week and then clear up for next weekend.
Tim, glad you got out yesterday and things went reasonably well, I hope Dinner tonight with the family is great fun.
Take care everyone!

Another Sunny Day here in Central IL, it's not as warm as I'd like but that's OK, I'll take what I can get.
Just sitting here waiting on my o2 delivery man to show up. He normally calls by this time to let me know
when he thinks he'll be getting to me but so far, not a word. I know he's coming, just not sure when.
Dew and I would like to get out this afternoon to visit our Daughter. She just moved into a new apartment
and wants us to come see it. We've been trying to get by there for a few days now but keep missing her.
We made plans for this afternoon so I hope the o2 guy doesn't decide to show up late.
Had a real good time with the Family yesterday. The Grand kids are getting so big. It seems like you miss
so much if you don't see them for a few weeks.
I seem to be doing OK on my Pred Taper. I'm down to 20 mg's and still feeling good. The SOB has improved as I
get out and about more. If at all possible, I would like to get back to PR tomorrow, we'll see....
I hope everyone is having a good day,

Tim that's great news. Things here are going well too with pleasant weather and a good workout at the gym. Yesterday we went to see Act of Valor and enjoyed it. I'd highly recommend it if you like action type movies. It's not a Rambo or Mission Impossible fantasy flick, in fact they filmed it with a real Seal team and make it clear that the real heroes are not the Hollywood stereotypes but the hard working, dedicated, ordinary guys who put it all on the line because that's their job.
Have a good day.

Well, my delivery driver called and said he probably wouldn't be in town until between 2 and 4 pm so we might
have to reschedule with our daughter. I hope not as we were looking forward to seeing her.
I would have loved to get outside and do some walking today but it's just too cold for me. The wind just cuts right
through me so went ahead and got in my 30min walk on the T/M today. I'm very happy with my SPO2... Steady at 93%
My New Civilian Primary Care Dr says to shot for a 30min brisk walk, 5 x a week, PR 2 x a week and strive to stay as active as possible
to combat the new Dx of Diabetes and to raise my good cholesterol.
I'm having a Tomato and Onion Salad for Lunch and it has to sit in the fridge for a little while so I better get busy.

It's another bright and sunny day out there, a little windy and still in the low 40's but a beautiful day nonetheless.
With any luck, we'll make it all the way to 54* today.
Got up early and went to PR this morning. I got in 30 min's on the T/M and another 40 min's between the Stationary Bike,
Elliptical, Arm Crank and Laps on the Track. I had a hard time convincing myself to get up and just do it this morning
but am glad I did. I feel much better now. My Lungs opened and I was able to clear some congestion and now I can
breathe much better.
Dew and I are going to try make it over to our daughter's new house today. We never did get over there yesterday and I think
she may be feeling a little neglected. We can't have that....
I also need some pots to transplant some small plants into so
a walk around Walmart on the list too.
My New Civilian Primary care Dr's Nurse called me this morning to let me know that my blood work had came back and
it's verifies a Dx of Diabetes. She set me up with an Appointment with one of the Nurse Practitioners to do a Diabetic Indication
and some Nutritional Counseling. I'm suppose to continue to do Accuchecks 3 times a day. Not sure if I'm going to need
meds or not.
See ya tomorrow,
Tim

Tim you sound better and more positive and your committment to the exercise is great! The Diabetes isn't good news but it is managable and controllable so follow the Dr's orders and you should be OK. We have several close friends with Diabetes and the only time they really have issues is when they do what they are not supposed to do...No surprises, just inability to resist the temptations for some things that work against them.
Keep up all of the good work and the good attitude!

Tim, you will be able to handle the diabetes well...just moniter yourself and continue your healthy lifestyle and keep exercising. Nick takes his meds on time and (finally) monitors and he can tell when he is being bad! Does what it takes to stay on track and he does very well.
You can do it!

Tim that's a very positive report. Had a similar experience here today, woke up without any motivation or energy but pushed myself to workout and I've felt better all day. The docs office called me yesterday with results of my bloodwork, really good numbers on cholesterol and triglycerides but an elevated white cell count. I'll check that next week when I have an appointment.
Ken let me know about your Canaveral and Merritt Island trip. I worked at the Space Center forty years ago and there was nothing in central FL from the Cape to Orlando. I did enjoy the drive up from Cocoa Beach to the Space Center each day and then the beach on weekends. I wanted to buy some property there but I was just out of the military and didn't have a cent to spare. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize the area today.
Have a great day.

Darrell,
Will fill you in on our canaveral visit next week, it had to be an exciting place to work when you were there! Last time I was actually there was for a night shuttle Launch to Mir which I was able to take my parents too. It was quite a site.
Well, today is the last day of Feb and is also a leap day. For the month of Feb I compleated formal exercise on 27 of the 29 days of the month for a total of 36 hours and 15 minutes of workout time. I have exercised 54 of the 60 days of 2012 so far and have now accumulated 268,500 points in the Presidents Fitness Challenge. It has been a good exercise month and a good month of health for me. My plans for March are simply to continue my program on as close to an everyday basis as is possible.
Everyone that posts seem to be doing reasonably well at the moment which is wonderful, let's keep it up and keep moving forward.
Wishing everyone great breathing,
Ken-FL

Ken those night launches from Cape Canaveral were awesome, the whole horizon lit up and then the light lifted into the sky to slowly get smaller and disappear. And the surprising thing was that you didn't need to get near the Cape to see it. The whole coastal area seemed like a big tailgate party for the launch.
It's a cool rainy day here and I am doing exercises at home then on to a to-do list. I think this will make18 days of exercise this month, right on target for me. It's great that so many of us are having a good run of health now. I think Tim may be benefitting from his hard work with a quicker recovery than expected after he got knocked down pretty hard recently. At least I hope that's the case.
Get out, get active and have a great day.
Darrell
PS: Make that 20 days of exercise and 24.5 hours

Your right Darrell, I am doing pretty good right now. I dropped to 10 mg's of Pred today and so far, so good. I'm hoping that
the reduction corresponds to a lower Accu Check at noon. So far, I've seen a drop in my checks on each dose drop.
It's just a beautiful day out today. Not Tee Shirt Weather yet but not far from it. We're suppose to have gusting winds upwards
of 45 MPH this afternoon and tonight but it's not too bad out right now.
I just did my Theraband and Hand weight routine along with my exercises and walked for 30 min's on the T/M. I increased
my speed a little today. I hope to be back to my previous speed by the end of next week.
It sounds like we're all doing well this week. That's always good News.
Take Care,
Tim

Hi All:
It sounds like everyone is doing well these days......good news.
I just finished compiling my stats for Feb and they are as follows: 19 days of exercise with an average of 89 minutes per day. I hope to continue my activity in March and maybe add a few days to the day total.
It is spring like here again today - looking for temps well into the 40's. It looks like we again will miss all the snow that Minneapolis and northern Wis. is getting today.....hurray.
It is to be a baking day here with Oatmeal Cherry cookies and candybar brownies - bake sale at husband's school tomorrow for the 8th grade class trip - I had better get moving.
Have a good day everybody.
Claire
